Hyatt Place Wichita State University

Alondra, the sales manager, made a small moment feel really personal when I wanted a drink at the Placery in the front lobby. She was welcoming and respectful, went out of her way to arrange it, and even offered it to me at no charge. Her great service made the experience memorable for me.

It seemed like a quiet hotel, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Everything was clean, the workout facilities were good, and the complimentary breakfast was pretty good too. Being on campus puts it in a nice location. For the price, this was the best hotel experience I've had in Wichita. I'll book here again.

My first stay here was great, but the second time was disappointing. Check-in went smoothly, and when my son pulled out the couch bed, we found fake eyelash bits and crusty boogers on the sheet at the foot of the mattress. Other parts of the sheet were dirty too. The front desk was great about it and promptly moved us to another room. The next morning at breakfast, my son found three hairs in his eggs. The person looking after the food wasn't there, so I told the man at the front desk, “I thought you might want to know there are hairs in the eggs.” He replied, “I didn’t make them.” I said I wanted him to know before someone got upset. He went into the dining room, but I didn't stay to see what happened. Mistakes happen, and the night crew handled things well. The man's response in the morning was sad and disheartening. I paid extra to stay on WSU's campus, but next time I'll probably save the money and go somewhere else. Too bad.

The room was about what I'd expect for the Hyatt price point and a typical hotel stay. It had a nice furnace unit instead of a window mini split, though it was just as loud each time it kicked on. After showering, the drain pan made a sound like a trash can lid closing over and over as I listened to the shower head drip onto it for two hours. I had to put a towel over it to get to sleep.
