What bothered me most was how the refund was handled, and Jennifer’s dismissive response. She told me the room had never been under maintenance and there was “nothing you can do.” The lack of accountability made it feel like customer care wasn’t a priority. I hope the team reviews how this is handled. We were in town for a basketball tournament and stayed at the Hawthorne Suites. At the front desk, we tried to pay by card but were told the only available rooms had to be booked through Priceline, so we did that. When we got to the room, a table was flipped over and a drawer was on the couch. The front desk said maintenance had been in to fix the desk but hadn’t put it back together. The room got excessively hot that night. We were exhausted from traveling and didn’t figure out what was happening until morning, when we checked the thermostat and found it wasn’t working. We explained everything at the desk. Staff apologized, said they hadn’t realized the room was still under maintenance, offered to refund the first night, and promised to move us after our first round of games. The replacement room wasn’t spotless, but the AC worked and the furniture was intact. Once home, I saw the refund hadn’t been processed. The hotel said I needed to speak with Jennifer, who never called me back. Priceline said its cancellation policy meant it couldn’t help. To cancel through the app, I would have temporarily lost the money and then had to book again separately. My bank told me this seemed to be a recurring issue involving Priceline and partner hotels. It looks like hotels such as Hawthorne use third-party platforms and their restrictive cancellation policies, which can make refunds difficult even when guests are put in rooms that are under maintenance or unavailable.

Free coffee and the friendliest staff I’ve ever encountered at a place I’ve stayed. The location is perfect, and I plan to come here a lot from now on. I wish I could work here, but I can’t have everything. I’ll recommend it to my friends and family.

For a traveling worker like me, this has been my preferred spot so far. The queen room is laid out like a studio apartment, with a large room and everything you need for an overnight stay. It’s not fancy or a brand-new hotel, but it’s the best in this price range compared with the others. The beds are comfortable for a night shifter, and the place is clean.

The walls and doors were really dirty, the refrigerator didn’t work, and there were roaches in my room. I asked to move, but they said no. This place could be nice if they updated the rooms and dealt with the pest problem, but right now it isn’t worth the money.
