Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham Wichita Airport

The room itself was spacious, clean, and good, and the other front desk employee was great. But I still haven’t gotten my $50 deposit back, two weeks later. I extended my stay for Friday and Saturday, and on Saturday morning Philippe came to my room saying I had to pay. I’d already paid at the front desk Friday morning. He said that reservation had been cancelled and that instead of $86 a night, I’d have to pay $122 before taxes because it was the weekend. I left for another hotel rather than pay more after I’d already paid. He had a terrible attitude. My guess is the charge was for a late checkout, since he waited until after checkout to tell me the booking was cancelled and ask for the higher rate.

Loved staying here. We had zero issues, and this is definitely one of our go-to places in Wichita!

The lobby was being tidied by a full crew of cleaning staff when we came back from an appointment. The hotel’s an older building that’s been renovated, and they’ve done a nice job giving it new life. Breakfast was a full buffet, the rooms were clean, and the location was quiet. I was impressed by the staff too. The only small thing was that the floor felt a little sticky, so I wore my shoes the whole stay. Very minor. There was also a nice apartment-size refrigerator.

After one night here, I got home and noticed something that looked like a bed bug on my belongings. Hopefully it was the only one. The bathroom was small, there was no carpet, and the front desk staff had absolutely no hospitality. I’d tell people to stay away from this location.
