Motel 6 Wichita, KS

Having Easy Egg right next door was a great bonus, and the bed was comfortable. Check-in was easy, and James at the front desk was friendly and helpful. I was traveling alone and picked this pet-friendly place near the airport after reading reviews. The location worked perfectly for me, and my non-smoking king room, #106, was so clean it was hard to believe pets were allowed at no charge. I felt safe and content during my stay, and management deserves credit for stepping in when things got noisy. The one bad part was Tuesday night: people were yelling on and off, then a rowdy young group gathered out front around 2 a.m. I heard them say the police were coming and that someone was leaving, along with comments about an Indian guy calling police, which I assumed meant management. They also said they had a gun and were worse than white people, meaning better at getting cops involved. Two police cars arrived about 15 minutes later, and it got quiet for the rest of the night. I think I may just have been unlucky, but the interruption did affect my sleep. My first-floor room faced the street, so it didn’t feel very private with the curtains open. People talking by their cars outside could often be heard throughout the day.

The room and beds were comfortable, and the price was surprisingly low. There’s no pet fee, which is a big deal for us since other pet-friendly rooms have charged me $50 per dog. We’re very happy with our stay and would recommend it. Last time I was in Wichita, I stayed at a motel and felt scared all night, so this was a much nicer experience.

The staff were amazing, and the rooms and beds were clean. Still, roaches in the phone and microwave made the stay unpleasant. The beds felt cheap, the shower water never got very hot, and several TV channels were frozen.

The room was right under the path of lots of arriving flights, so “near the airport” doesn’t really capture the noise. Our Roku TV had no remote from the hotel, and we only got it working because we brought our own Roku remote. We were just passing through, and honestly I’m not sure I’d stay again.
