La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Wichita Northeast

The pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable, though the room itself was clean, the bed was comfortable, and it was still quite accommodating. Staff were especially nice and ready to help, and they handled our pet situation well. We used the hotel as a halfway stop on our trip, and it worked perfectly. The breakfast was average, but the area was clean and stocked with the essentials. There’s a snack area, though it doesn’t take cash, which could be a drawback. The location makes getting on and off the interstate easy, with food and shopping nearby. There’s also an indoor pool and fitness center.

Good value for what you get. It’s clearly an older hotel, but they keep it clean. There’s an indoor pool, and one treadmill doesn’t work. Dave and busters is next door, with plenty of places to shop and eat nearby. Breakfast is basic, with sausage, eggs, toast, and similar things. The beds were too soft for me.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were pleasant. Saturday breakfast was the letdown. Because of stomach surgery, I need protein to make up the main part of my meal. The waffles were great for some people, but the sausage gravy was mostly gravy with very little sausage, so it wasn’t enough for me or others. Hard-boiled eggs, bacon, or sausage would have helped. Other guests complained about breakfast that morning, too.

We finally checked out early, and then the front desk service got even worse. I asked Alissa for a manager, but she asked what my issue was. She said she’d help after her call; I waited right in the lobby in front of the desk, but when she hung up she answered four more calls. When I asked why I hadn’t been helped, she said I’d stepped away. She claimed there was no manager on duty, despite a sign saying “Manager on Duty.” She said she could only contact her manager on her personal phone and that the manager wouldn’t speak to guests. We still haven’t heard from anyone. A family member who rented a room had the same dirty-room problem. The first room had an AC/heating unit that kept failing. I had to reset it about every four hours, then every hour the next day, so we were moved to another room. That one had torn-up carpet, rust in the bathtub, mold in the shower, and dirty towels. We had to get clean towels ourselves. The mattresses were stained and disgusting. Things seemed fine at check-in, but after that it was an absolute disaster.
