Hampton Inn and Suites Chicago/Mt. Prospect

The room was spacious and the hotel was clean, but the accessible room didn’t seem accessible enough for our needs. The toilet was standard height with no grab bars, and the shower had just one awkwardly placed bar, no removable showerhead, and no seat. It was also a long walk from the elevator. Breakfast was closing before its stated end time, one of our key cards didn’t work, and one elevator seemed out of order. I’d stay again if I didn’t need an accessible room.

My mother and I had to stay here for nine days while our condo was being prepared, after moving from Oregon to be near family because of a medical situation. We had no complaints. The hotel was quiet, clean, and comfortable, and the service was great. I highly recommend it.

The lobby and breakfast space are welcoming, and the staff at the service deck were friendly and accommodating. Our first night went well: the room was clean and roomy, though the hotel layout is a little unusual. We haven’t tried the small pool yet. We don’t have a car, so haven’t used the underground parking, which has a nightly fee. We’re next to Costco in an outdoor mall, with some shopping and restaurants and a grocery store all within walking distance. There’s also an AMC theater and Home Depot there.

For the nightly price, the room size and breakfast were good, and I felt safe walking to the nearby shops and restaurants as a solo traveler. The underground parking was roomy, bright, and dry. The hotel is quite dated, though, and just one working elevator meant long waits getting to and from my top-floor room. The bed was basic and hard, not especially comfortable. I was also surprised that water bottles weren’t complimentary and had to be purchased. A solid stay for the price, just nothing fancy.
