Good value. The front desk manager was great and really accommodating. They’re remodeling now, so it should look nicer once that’s done.

The room looked surprisingly clean when I arrived. The bed was comfortable, and the towels were nice. Later that night, though, I woke up feeling like something was crawling on me. I’d dreamed about ants, so I tried to shrug it off and went back to sleep. Then my alarm woke me, and I saw a roach crawling on my arm. I moved the bed and other furniture and found white powder behind the bed, possibly roach bait, and more behind the fridge alongside an ice bucket lid. It looked like those areas hadn’t been checked or cleaned. There were also little black specks on the bed under the covers. I don’t know what they were and don’t want to guess. I showered and got out of there. If you’re staying in Mountain City, this might be the best option, but if you can manage the drive, I’d look elsewhere. When I checked out, I had no intention of coming back. I’d pulled the furniture out to show what needed cleaning and stripped the bed, hoping housekeeping would get the hint. That backfired when I found out around 2 pm that my stay had been extended and they’d booked me another room here. Before returning, I bought roach spray. I expected the room to have been cleaned, but the furniture was still out, the bed was still stripped, and there were no fresh bath linens. Disgusted, I sprayed the whole room with the can. It’s now 6:15 am, and I haven’t seen another bug so far. Don’t expect room service if you stay here.

The lobby has a rustic feel that I loved, especially the rocking chairs and the view down over it from the second floor railing. We had morning coffee there, too. The staff were super friendly, our room was very clean, and the hotel smelled really good. It’s easy to find and in a convenient spot. My family and I had an amazing weekend, and we’ll stay here whenever we’re in the area from now on.

The beds were awful, the fridge didn’t work, and there was no microwave. There was also a band-aid behind the bathroom toilet and the sheets were dirty. At check-in, my friend was told the computer had tried to put him in a dirty room because staff hadn’t been around to clean. It was 9:45 pm. They then said they’d switched him to a clean room, but clearly that wasn’t true.
