Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Murphy by IHG

My partner got bitten by a bed bug while taking a nap, and there was also a spider on the floor. The manager was rude, told us they were fully booked, and said we could leave. They didn’t offer another room. I work out of town and stay in hotels all across North Carolina, and I’ve never had both a bed bug problem and such a rude response here before. My company got me another hotel. I put down my card for incidentals, but two days after checkout my $40 still hadn’t come back. My partner, who stayed at the hotel, says it’s very nice, though I was told the cinnamon roll was hard. There’s plenty of parking, and I’m sure the breakfast was nice. After my partner emailed corporate, the manager did reach out and apologize, but that doesn’t excuse how she treated us or explain why they took my $39 and won’t release it. I told corporate I’d write a nasty review, and none of this is made up. My boyfriend was bitten and there really was a spider. The manager should work on her customer service. She spoke to my partner like he was a dog and talked to me the same way. I was so angry I said I would have come across the counter and called the police. If she doesn’t release my $39, I’ll make her life hell, Miss Holly Jackson. I’m a single mother and need that money.

We booked through Priceline for two nights, but the hotel charged us. They fixed the billing issue, though it took 4 days for the credit to show up on my card. There was construction going on, and the workers were respectful while working and using the elevators. The pool was full of building supplies, so we couldn’t swim. It would’ve been nice to know that before we arrived.

I’m in hotels all the time for work, and for almost $200 a night including room and tax, I expect a working TV. I told the woman at the front desk on the Wednesday evening shift three times that mine wasn’t working. She offered suggestions twice, then said she’d come look on my third request, but never showed up. No one seemed concerned. VERY disappointed with this location. The attitude I got was, give us our money and to hell with your experience.

The breakfast was cooked fresh in the morning and great, and all the areas were very clean. The front desk staff, including the super nice ladies, went out of their way to sort out our problems and try to make things right. We’ve stayed here twice while visiting family and love IGH hotels. They’re under construction, but did their best in the circumstances.
