Stonebrook Lodge Murphy

The room was very nice, though we didn’t get to try the pool. Breakfast needs a little work. There was no fruit or protein, but the waffles were good.

The location made it easy to get around. The Casino was just 2 minutes away, and we also went into downtown and had a good time. Everyone we met who worked at the Lodge was friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back. I recommend it.

We left a day early after the town lost power around 11:30 am on Sunday, February 15. I understand the outage wasn’t the lodge’s fault, but there was no backup generator, no provisions, and no one alerted or tried to accommodate the guests. The outage was expected to last more than 5 hours. When I spoke to the attendant, she was focused on the guests due to check in, not those already staying there. No one reached out to us as a courtesy. We had booked the jacuzzi King suite for a Valentine weekend getaway at Stonebrook Lodge in Bryson City, NC. When we arrived late, I saw black mold and mildew in the filthy jacuzzi jets. I told the attendant, Eloisa, the next morning. She apologized and said she’d take care of it, but the cleaning attempt was poor and it was still dirty. We didn’t feel safe using it. The acknowledgement you sign says there’s no refund if you check out without 24-hour notice, and they don’t make an exception for something like this. They put the cost of the inconvenience on the guests and showed no attempt at customer service. The attendant said this happens ‘all the time’, so you’d think they’d have a generator. I left two messages for the manager, Lindsey, and still haven’t heard back. Nobody in leadership contacted me about refunding one day. My husband and I travel a lot, and this was the worst lodging experience I’ve had. I can’t recommend anyone stay here. They were extremely unprofessional. There are 3 Stonebrook Lodges, all under the same leadership.

Our stay in Murphy was so much better thanks to the staff, especially Stephanie at the front desk. Everyone was friendly and went out of their way to help. The place was impeccably clean too. One of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in for a long time. Thanks, you guys are awesome.
