Budget Inn Muskogee

We were just passing through for one night. The bed was okay, and the room could be really clean if it were properly looked after, but the lighting was poor and there wasn't much quality to speak of. The bathtub floor felt soft, the shower was rusty and nasty, and both the curtain and linens were stained and dingy. The blanket was well used with a thin duvet on top. If you only need a basic place to get by, it might do. We picked it based on past reviews, but you get what you pay for.

Staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in was quick. It’s a simple place with what you need for a good night's sleep. My room was clean, quiet, and comfortable for the price. I'd happily stay at Budget Inn again.

For a budget motel, it was about what you'd expect. All the rooms are smoking rooms, which is one downside, and the parking spaces are tight with little room to maneuver a larger vehicle. It can be done, though. The good thing is that there are lots of restaurants nearby, with plenty of food options if you don't want to drive far.

I was still upset months later about how rudely I was treated. I drove two hours with my dogs after booking and paying in full for two nights through Expedia, hoping for a break and a place to work. I'd picked this small business because I like supporting mom-and-pop places, the reviews were good, and it came up as pet friendly. At arrival, they said I couldn't stay without another $100 pet fee. I hadn't seen the small print and couldn't afford it. I asked if I could shorten the booking to one night to cover the fee or get a refund so I could go elsewhere. The person at the desk was extremely rude, scolded me for booking through Expedia, and brought over another person to tell me I was wrong and stupid. I ended up crying on the lobby floor, then left and drove home. Expedia refunded only one night, so I lost $75 and spent four hours driving for that treatment.
