Motel 6-Muskogee, OK

After booking, I saw several reviews with nothing good to say, but I really enjoyed my stay. The area was quiet, I felt safe coming and going, and the staff were helpful without hovering. My room was in the back, so it was a little dark, but it was clean, comfortable, and had what we needed. The heat and air worked great, and there was a microwave and mini fridge. It wasn’t fancy, but if you want somewhere clean, comfortable, and safe, this place works fine. I couldn’t really find anything to complain about.

Being close to my kids was the only good part of the stay. My first room was damaged and dirty, with no hot water. I contacted the booking site, but they still haven't heard back from the hotel. The second room was cleaner, but it still had roaches, and the water took over an hour even to start getting warm. The stairs to the second floor seemed like they could hurt someone, and people sleeping in the parking lot meant we could never park near our room. The free WiFi didn't work, the TVs were broken, and the room smelled like it hadn't been aired out in months. My key stopped working several times, locking me out. Shortly after 11pm, I had to bang on the metal safety box to get a key, just so I could get back in. Housekeeping never came to clean the room.

They charged me $315 when I booked, then said at check-in I needed another $50 deposit or I couldn't check in and would lose what I had paid. The lobby sign says $250/week. Four days into my seven-day stay, they told me there was also a $25-a-day pet deposit for my dog. Now they want another $150 for the week, bringing it to $515 for me week. The place has roaches, no Wi-Fi, no cable, and no blankets on the beds. Don't rent here.

The next morning, the toilet was clogged, and I needed towels, but the front desk couldn't help at all. I paid a fee to check in early so I could rest, which I was happy to do. Before leaving, I made sure the room was spotless. When I came back for my cash deposit, she said I wouldn't get it because the towels were dirty, and actually told me I should have washed them before I left. I feel she pocketed the money. The hotel has roaches, and the towels might cost them a dollar each. I used the washcloths to clean makeup off my brushes, and it came right out. I'll never stay here again. If you know what's good for you, stay away. The acting manager is greedy and a thief!
