Getting around to the amenities took some figuring out. The resort has several buildings, and different facilities are spread between them: Paradise Tower, The Dunes Building, The Palms Tower, The Sailfish Tower, and the Registration Building. The pools and slides are in Paradise Tower, while breakfast is across the street at Papas. Dinner options include Strong Waters and Jaybo Pizza, though those places weren’t open during our stay. The Breakers sits right on the oceanfront, in the middle of the city. I understand it’s been in Myrtle Beach for about 70 years, and it seems suited to family trips, business meetings, or golf getaways. I enjoyed my stay and would return.

We booked a condo through ABNB. It’s an older hotel and could use some upgrades, but the amenities are hard to beat for what you get. Families with kids should find it a good fit, with easy beach access and restaurants within walking distance.

The Ocean Front view gave us a great sunrise, and we had a good time in Myrtle Beach, but the stay wasn’t what I remembered from earlier visits. It’s been about 10 years since we’d last been here, and I’d hoped to see updates or new amenities. We stayed four nights, but the air conditioning only worked on the final night. At first I thought the kids had changed the thermostat. When the room reached 80, it was clear there was a problem. Maintenance came quickly, found about three inches of ice on the unit, and had to turn on the heat to clear it. Yikes. I was glad I’d packed a fan. We booked a three-bedroom with one king bed, but every room had two queen beds. The hot water never got hot enough for the jacuzzi tub or shower, even with the setting all the way up and no cold water mixed in. The carpet was filthy enough to turn our socks black, even though we barely spent time in the room. The garbage disposal also didn’t work. Maintenance said it happens all the time and only needs resetting with a specific tool. For coffee, I’d skip the packets and go to the Starbucks across the street. Construction was underway, with one of the three elevators closed during the day. There was a ball tournament too, so the elevators were nonstop. Getting to the seventh floor sometimes meant waiting through three to five trips. The pool with slides was closed, and construction blocked the indoor pool entrance in Paradise Tower. We couldn’t get in through an indoor entrance until we were leaving. The outdoor entrances needed signs showing where to enter the pools, maybe even a simple “this way to pool.” We told the front desk about most of the problems and received a price adjustment. It makes me think these issues happen often. I wish the room had matched what the website and my earlier stays led me to expect. The Breakers just isn’t what it used to be, though hopefully the construction will improve things. P.S. Don’t use a UV light anywhere in your room. Glad we brought Lysol.

The suite in Paradise Tower was lovely, and the resort has great amenities, including pools, a lazy river, and beach access. But getting basics like clean towels and coffee for our group of 13 was a real struggle. I ended up buying coffee, filters, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, dish soap, dishwasher pods, laundry detergent, body soap, shampoo, and lotion. Even with a resort fee, assume you’ll need to bring or buy the kinds of things you’d normally have at home. Some housekeeping staff were helpful, while a few were pretty salty and unhelpful.

The pool area was a great place to relax in the sun, and the beach was just a short walk away. We spent four nights at Breakers Paradise Tower and had a fantastic stay. The staff were friendly and made sure we had what we needed, and our room was clean, well-appointed, and had a beautiful view. It exceeded my expectations and made for a perfect getaway. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good time in Myrtle Beach.
