The location and amenities are nice, and this may have been a very nice place long, long ago. But maintenance seems nonexistent now. The furniture is peeling, mattresses sag, the kitchen was dirty, the plates weren’t clean, half the light bulbs didn’t work, and the jacuzzi tub was broken. The HVAC filter looked as if it hadn’t been replaced in years, so we bought a new one at Wal-Mart and replaced it ourselves. The kitchen had no baking sheets or spoons either. We would never stay here again. At $143 a night in the off season, we overpaid by a lot. I’m now reading the five-star reviews more carefully, and most of the photos seem to be the same ones posted by different people. This place doesn’t deserve five stars, and should be sued for paying for five-star reviews with duplicate photos.

The view was awesome, and the bike-week event staff were more helpful than the regular staff. The refrigerator worked and kept things nice and cold, but the ice maker in the freezer didn’t work. The book mentioned ice makers on floors 15 and 4, but there was no ice bucket, so we had to use something else. The hot tubs outside were cool, but one didn’t work at all and the other had only one working jet. The Jacuzzi tub jets didn’t work, and there was no shower curtain or phone for calling the front desk. When I called from my own phone, they usually didn’t answer. The staff member who was supposed to help had already left for the day. She said she’d leave the manager a note and could get us a curtain and address the other problems, but we never heard back. The water features weren’t working properly. The carpets looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a while, and the furniture was a bit more worn than you’d expect. We had to sign a waiver saying they weren’t responsible for our person, belongings, or anything else hurt, injured, or stolen on the property. They didn’t offer clean towels, and we were responsible for the room throughout our stay. The TV remote didn’t work properly, and we couldn’t open or log into any apps, so we were stuck with regular TV. It was on some kind of Wi-Fi connection, which happened to break down over Memorial Day weekend, the same time as bike week. Someone told me they were working on the Wi-Fi and would send help for the TV, but it got late and we had to leave in the morning. Nobody came, and the Wi-Fi was still out. I called to tell them not to send anyone after all, but she didn’t answer any more of my calls. I finally left a note on the door and went to bed.

That view from room 1708 at Ocean one resort was the best I've seen in MB. It almost kept us there, but the room was filthy and smelled like seafood. The bed looked like it had been crushed in the middle and left that way for a year. Kitchen cabinets were coming apart, the fridge was dented and missing drawers, and the dishwasher didn't work. I was on vacation and didn't want to spend my time washing dishes by hand, especially when the dishes left by previous renters were so dirty we had to boil the utensils. There was mold and hair in the bathroom, though I always bring cleaning supplies. The windows facing that gorgeous view were dirty and stained, the carpet hadn't been vacuumed properly, and there was no coffee for the maker. They'd left a dirty sponge too. The pool looked dirty, maintenance doors were standing open outside, and people could wander in from the street without security. We brought disinfectant and cleaning supplies, and I'm almost certain we would have left late that evening if the view hadn't been so good. The owners are missing out on the property's potential through poor cleaning and maintenance. From earlier reviews, it seems these problems have been around for a while without being fixed. They need a new property manager and housekeeping manager.

I felt safe traveling alone here, even though I had some reservations about doing a solo birthday trip. Cameal was patient and kind, and check-in went smoothly. Just remember the check-in is separate from the Suites, across the street. I stayed on the 14th floor in a corner two-bedroom oceanfront unit, type 10/14. The floor-to-ceiling windows gave me an amazing 360-degree view, and the rooms were clean, airy, and spacious. I loved the matching white leather furniture. The location made it easy to get to my planned outings and shopping, and I met some really cool people at the resort. I came home happy and refreshed, then returned a month later and had an even better time. It's become my annual birthday destination.

Room 804 on the eighth floor was the one I'd booked, but its lock was broken, so I had to move rooms. In the room I ended up with, the sofa was torn, the Wi-Fi was out all day, and the TV wasn't smart. From the third floor, I could hear noise and smell pool chemicals whenever I opened the door to look at the sea. There was no working hairdryer, and they didn't have another one available. The mattress in the living area had no cover or pillowcase. Even though I asked for those things at check-in, no one brought them, and getting them took forever. They also expect you to wash your own towels if you run out, and you have to go to the check-in area to ask for laundry detergent. Nobody emptied the trash during my four-day stay, and I could only get through to their phone number once.
