My family and I won’t book with Suites at the Beach again, and I’ll tell people I know to avoid it. I vacation in Myrtle Beach two or three times a year and have never had this happen. We had a reservation from July 15 to July 18, 2024, for my mother, my artistic nephews, my kids and me. They put us in room 406 at the South Tower of Palms Resort. The bathroom had only two towels and no other necessities. That night, the bed came apart and half of it ended up on the floor while my mother and nephew were sleeping. They woke with bite marks all over their bodies. The spare sheet for the pullout couch had fresh blood on it, so I couldn’t use it. A cleaning lady was in the hallway with another Suites at the Beach resident who also needed clean linen because she hadn’t been given enough. The cleaner got us towels and other things from the next-door room. That evening I had to lift the mattress, prop it against the wall, and put the old-fashioned metal rails back together so my mother and nephew could sleep. Under the mattress, I saw what looked like mold on the cover and a dark brown bug that looked like a bedbug. I’d had enough and called Suites at the Beach. They moved us to room 1403, which looked all right, but the cleaning lady’s supplies and dirty laundry were still in it. They told me to put them outside, and my family could stay there. The next day, I took my mother and nephew to urgent emergency care because the bites had really affected them. I contacted Suites at the Beach about paying the doctor bill, but they still haven’t replied. I’ve emailed several times and feel they’re ignoring me, so now I’m going to seek legal advice about what can be done. I have pictures too.

The view was gorgeous, the location excellent, and there was an ice maker. Still, after five nights, I wouldn’t return without bringing a lot of my own things. The patio door wouldn’t lock, there was a roach, and we arrived to no toilet paper and dingy towels. The bathroom had no hot water, the bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were terrible, and the shower curtain was awful. Neighbors smoked weed all day. They really need to invest in a better bed and pillows.

We stayed at Palms Resort through Suites at the beach, and I wouldn’t book with them. There was no room for our group of seven, including five kids, and the service was terrible. I emailed, called and texted about the closet, which had blankets and pillows, but got no response. The closet door had been arranged to look unbroken, but it fell on my daughter as soon as she opened it. There also seemed to be a hole punched in the bathroom door. I complained and heard nothing. I deserve a refund, but of course there’s still no response. They seem to care only about getting paid.

The two condos we rented were clean, and I didn’t see any roaches. Their bathrooms were small, but that was okay. We liked the pool, though not its color, and the hot tubs were good. It was good for the price, and we enjoyed our stay.

The room is badly in need of an upgrade. It’s basically just a room with an oceanfront view. If that’s all you’re looking for, this hotel is for you.
