Best Western Northpark Inn

The beds were comfortable, and having different kinds of pillows helped everyone sleep well. The shower had strong water pressure and a high head that taller guests, six feet and up, should like. We also loved the exterior room doors, which made loading and unloading with kids much easier. Didn’t bring my dog, but it’s pet-friendly. Clean room for a good price!

Our reservation at the Best Western Northpark in Nacogdoches, Texas was canceled around 6am on 3/5, the day I arrived. The hotel then put us in a room someone had checked out of minutes earlier, and it hadn’t been cleaned. I asked for a refund so we could go elsewhere, and after an hour trying to sort it out, Gaby at the desk felt bad about the reservation mix-up and the dirty room. She gave us another room free of charge. We were supposed to stay until the morning of 3/6, but the owners made us leave at 11:30am on 3/5. They also charged me $74.89 for the room that was supposed to be free, where we stayed four hours even though we didn’t want it. I was told I’d get an email showing the refund, but it never came. I do have the papers showing the second room was canceled. I called on 3/10 because I was still being charged. The owner said nothing was free there and that I was paying that amount for the four hours in the room I’d been given free because of the hotel’s mistakes, then hung up on me. The hotel wasn’t clean either. There are several better hotels a few miles up the road with better service. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Stay somewhere else, it’ll be worth it.

The staff were very nice, and the room was average, with a fairly comfortable bed. The pillows were awful. Our mini fridge didn’t get cold enough, and the hair dryer was temperamental, though we eventually got it working. The tub, shower, and toilet were sufficiently clean. But housekeeping clearly didn’t clean behind the bathroom door or the floor and wall there, which unfortunately has been the case at at least 95% of hotels we’ve stayed in, even 4 and 5 Star places. The soap, shampoo, and conditioner were surprisingly good and smelled fresh. The pool looked nice but was closed because guests weren’t following the COVID-19 rules. I can’t speak to breakfast since only coffee was offered due to COVID-19. At checkout we did get a brown paper sack with bottled water, a muffin, and fruit.

We won’t be coming back to Best Western. The rooms weren’t very clean, and after we requested late checkout, cleaning staff walked into ours twice while we were still there. We were quietly working in the lobby when staff told us to leave. While we were there, another customer came in and said her room had DIRTY DIAPERS all over it. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned.
