We were upgraded to a room at the back on the top floor, with a nice view of the trees. It hadn’t been aired out for a while, so it didn’t smell fresh, though it wasn’t musty. The hotel was nearly empty when we stayed the Monday before Christmas. Staff were friendly, and breakfast was the usual for this chain. There’s a small outdoor pool on the side, so look at photos first if you’re planning to swim. We drove into town for dinner since there wasn’t much within walking distance. There was a lot of road work nearby, and getting in from the highway meant making a U-turn.

The room had a lot going for it in terms of space and layout, but cleanliness really got in the way of enjoying the stay. There was black hair scattered around the bathroom, including the tub, corners, baseboards, and under the sink. Our whole family is blonde, some naturally and some with a hairdresser’s help. We also found hair and dust along the baseboards and under the floating shelves by the bed and the floating bar in the entry. We ended up wearing socks the whole time. It was baffling to see a QR code with a housekeeper’s name for tipping when the room had been left like that. I wasn’t expecting much from the free “continental” breakfast, but it still disappointed. Even my five-year-old wouldn’t eat the chocolate waffle with whipped cream, saying it “tastes bad.” This was probably one of my least favorite stays at a Hilton property.

Riley, Aaron, and Amanda were polite, professional, and very friendly. Our room was clean and smelled nice. There’s a hot breakfast as well as a bag to take away, and the gym has a recumbent bike. SunCountry provides J1772 EV charging. The TV also has two commercial-free channels. My Friday night total, with taxes and fees, was about $125. Five stars for Hampton Inn & Suites Nacogdoches by Hilton.

During my four nights there, I never got fresh towels or any room service. I had to go to the front desk for more towels and take out my own trash. When I brought it up, they didn’t seem to care or try to offer any discount on the room.

Kayla at the front desk helped us above and beyond several times. The TV even greeted me by name, and breakfast was 🔥👌. I’ll definitely try to stay here again when I’m passing through.
