The place was run down, though clean. People were shouting in the hallways all evening, and when I asked them to quiet down at 11 pm because my kid was trying to sleep, they cursed at me and a young man threatened me physically. I called the front desk, but the worker said they’d paid to party at the property and hung up. There was a lot of weed smoking around the site, and the back door stayed unsecured, wide open day and night. Rude and unsafe, and I didn’t get a good night’s sleep. I wouldn’t stay again.

The standout was Naaron at the front desk. He was very helpful and committed to making the stay better, and his customer service deserves 5 stars. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but my first one had toilet trouble and the second had no remote. Naaron was trying to sort out the remote. The owners need to replace the outer door locks, since most weren’t secure, and the areas outside the rooms need repair. The price was right, but the hotel came up short. Give Naaron a raise!

We were exhausted on our drive from Chicago to Galveston, and the room was big, dated but clean, with a kitchenette and full apartment-size fridge/freezer. The bed was hard. I didn’t want to drink the light brown water from the faucet before bed. By morning, when we went to brush our teeth, wash up, shave and shower, there was no water at all. There was no soap, shampoo or anything like that either. The front desk quickly confirmed the whole building was without water and said it should be fixed by noon. There was no offer of a free night or compensation, just, “We didnt know our boiler was going to explode.” I’d been wary because this was the only hotel not fully booked and cost just $60 per night, while the others were twice as much. The room being clean was its only saving grace. For a hospitality business, I’d give it a D-. You get what you pay for.

Safety concern: the entrance door doesn’t lock, so you don’t need a key card to get into the hotel. Anyone off the street can walk in.
