We had a wonderful weekend here. The staff were friendly, the drinks and food were great, and the prices felt reasonable. Nine Flags Bar and 1st City Cafe at the hotel were both so good. It’s also easy to walk to most of the town’s attractions.
We’re looking forward to coming back. The rooms are beautiful and well appointed, and the on site bar and restaurant have a great menu with excellent service. Shops, restaurants, parks, the brewery, and more are all within walking distance. One night, a dispute in a neighboring room kept us awake because the walls are thin. It wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but light sleepers may want to avoid the rooms along the pool area and choose the tower instead.
I paid twice as much as I would have at the branded hotels in town, where I could have earned free reward points and gotten breakfast, a bigger room, and a cleaner one. This is an old building that’s being hyped up. Be smart and stay somewhere else.
My husband and son wound up sleeping on the floor, which says a lot about how badly this stay went. We’d booked a room with two beds for four people, but the “upgraded” room had just one, and its pull-out sofa had been disabled. Staff came to look but couldn’t fix it. I was later told our reserved room had gone to another guest through a third-party booking, even though we booked directly with the hotel. We arrived close to 10PM and one of our reserved rooms still wasn’t clean. The staff apologized and gave us breakfast vouchers, which I appreciated. Then they said there was another problem and offered an “upgrade” only if we paid extra. After I questioned that several times, the clerk finally honored our original rate. The property itself is beautiful, but the lack of communication, accountability, and care made this one of our most frustrating hotel experiences. It was college move-in week and every other hotel in the area was full, so we could have been left without anywhere to stay. I understand mistakes happen, but this was extremely disappointing.
The food is great, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I’ve stayed here on and off for a few weeks for work, and I’ve enjoyed every visit. The hotel is super clean and well managed.
