Our top-floor room was comfortable, with a porch overlooking the harbor. Sitting out there during our lovely mid-September stay was a real pleasure. The door to the porch was a bit difficult to handle, though I imagine it needs to be heavy because of the occasional wind. There wasn't much drawer space. The staff were excellent, and the warm afternoon cookies were a treat. We'll definitely return.

Alicia and Gillian made our fall visit especially nice. They were thoughtful and welcoming, and their local suggestions were spot-on. We also got into the habit of having warm cookies in the afternoon, and breakfast was just right before heading out. The room was gorgeous and comfortable, with an in-suite balcony where we could enjoy the crisp Nantucket air and plan a quiet morning. The walkable location made everything easy, from coffee and galleries to dinner and sunset, all just a few blocks away. The Veranda House is open year-round and would make a stylish, calm base for a shoulder-season or winter getaway. Highly recommend, we'll be back.

We stayed at Veranda House the week before Labor Day and enjoyed the hotel a lot. A reservation problem that was our own doing came up, and the staff sorted it out more than fairly. If you like a traditional setting that still feels new and clean, I think you'll love this place too.

The location and room were excellent, and the front desk staff were great. We had a very nice stay, though a few small things could make it feel like a true five-star experience. Coffee wasn't available until breakfast started at 8:00 a.m., which was hard for early risers. Several guests, including us, went into town just to get coffee. Having a Nespresso machine available outside breakfast hours would be a small investment we'd really appreciate. In our room, the shower gel pump was broken and the body cream was empty, details housekeeping could catch more easily. A magnifying makeup mirror in the bathroom would also be a thoughtful addition, especially for mature or senior travelers. Most upscale hotels provide one now.

The staff and hospitality are what have stayed with us most, even though we loved the beautifully redone Veranda House, its amenities, spacious rooms, and lovely harbor views. There are bikes and beach supplies, too. From the great breakfast to the delicious evening cookies, this was the best hotel, inn, or home-away-from-home my husband and I have ever found. SARAH! She was bubbly, bright, and so hospitable, looking after us from beginning to end. She grabbed our bags, directed us down to the lobby, and got us water before we even knew we needed it. She went above and beyond all stay: packing beach supplies into the shuttle, filling our totes with water and chip bags, helping with dinner recommendations, and making decaf coffee for my husband each morning before we came down to breakfast. She made us feel right at home. The rest of the staff were just as lovely, and there was a sweet pup, too. If you're booking a Nantucket stay, look no further!
