My room had no microwave or refrigerator, though the website says those are included. There were no fresh towels, and none of the lights worked when I arrived. It took about an hour to get the lights fixed. They wouldn’t move me or refund me, saying the hotel was full. The reception staff and management were rude, and customer service was poor. If a good night’s sleep is what you want, stay elsewhere. The Red Roof Inn Plus next door is much better.
The front desk woman was very nice, and I think she might have moved us if I’d told her sooner. They were sold out the first night, though, and after one night we decided it wasn’t worth raising. The problems really spoiled the start of our trip. The water pressure was the best I’ve ever had in a hotel, almost too strong if you know what I mean, but that was about the only good point. The beds were very hard, and the one by the door sloped enough that I woke up stiff. The bathroom floor hadn’t been swept and had crusty dirt around the edges. There was mold in the sink rim, a poop stain on the front of the toilet, and someone’s used complimentary shampoo in the shower. It didn’t seem like the room had been cleaned beyond making the beds and taking out the trash. My brother and I travel a lot, and this was the most disgusting place we’ve stayed, apart from hotels with an old people smell. For $93 a night, I expected better and won’t spend my money there again. The fridge didn’t work the first night either. I’m not sure the wiring is up to code, if Nashville has a code, because the microwave and mini fridge seemed to share one outlet. The hotel is beside a rail yard, so there’s screeching at all hours. Light sleepers should avoid it.
The biggest problem was the toilet. It barely flushed and couldn’t handle even a little toilet paper. I tried calling the front desk three times, but the line was busy every time. Since we couldn’t get a usable bathroom or reach anyone to fix it, I immediately booked another nearby hotel and left. We spent longer finding the room than staying in it. We’d booked through Expedia for one night because of a surgery consultation. The property was empty when we arrived, which felt like a red flag, and check-in was a little odd. The reservation was for three adults, but we only got two keys. The desk asked if I was okay taking stairs, so I assumed a ground-floor room was possible; when I asked for one, they said none was available. The layout was confusing and poorly marked, and it took us about 10 minutes to find the room. It looked generally clean for the price, with no visible pests. The bathroom door was so narrow my average-sized husband hit both shoulders on the frame. The room didn’t seem unsafe or dirty, but the broken toilet made the stay completely unacceptable.
I booked two nights, 1/26-1/28, through Expedia after losing power at home, and arrived with my two-year-old and pets. The hotel had no electricity, and they wouldn’t even let us inside to get out of the 20° weather while we tried to find somewhere else. Expedia said the hotel denied a refund for the arrival day. Why accept reservations if you can’t safely house guests? They kept my money during a natural disaster. I’d already spent $30 on an Uber to get there, then had to pay more to reach another hotel with power and heat. Where was the customer service or empathy?
The online photos don’t represent the hotel at all. From the lobby to the rooms, it didn’t feel clean, and the service was just as bad. In our room, the tub was full of hair, there were several stains on the sheets, and the pillows had no covers. The pillows themselves were covered in mold, and there was hair on the sheets too. I asked for a refund over these issues, but nobody there seemed willing to help. I can’t tell which was worse, the service or the condition of the rooms. The pictures say it all, absolutely disgusting.
