The Iris Motel

It’s a low-key, affordable place with no frills, and the room was clean. The website photos made it look more chic and luxurious than it felt in person. The blue and yellow colors, pressed-wood cubes, and odd metal accents gave the room a kindergarten cubby feel. It wasn’t bad, just not as upscale as we expected. The AC unit made a loud spaceship-like revving sound every few minutes, and there was plenty of street noise. The curved shower rod was pulling away from the wall, sagged enough that the curtain wouldn’t close, and looked like it might fall on someone. I was surprised the cleaners hadn’t noticed.

We booked a week ahead for our family of four. The room, location, and service were all top notch, and the staff made us feel welcome. Check-in and checkout were easy. I liked the mom-and-pop feel, a nice change from the cold, corporate atmosphere of pricey hotels. We’ll definitely be back!

Very basic but clean, and a budget-friendly option. Bring your own pillow, though, since the ones provided were thin and flimsy. The room could use a few minor repairs, and the location made it a little noisy. The AC was SOOOOOO loud.

I reached out on our second day to ask for an accommodation, and they responded quickly and found one for me. The service was 10/10. Our room was clean, cute, simple, organized, and smelled good, just like the pictures. The beds were comfortable, and the AC kept the room cool. There was lots of free parking, too. Broadway is a nine-minute drive away, which worked well since we were going to Uber there anyway. I definitely recommend the motel.
