The Clark Gable Suite was roomy and really comfortable. We weren’t sure how an older house would hold up in the outside heat, but the individual air conditioners kept the rooms ice cold. Everything we needed downtown Natchez was close by, and there’s a convenience store a few hundred yards away that’s an easy walk.

Dan made my first B&B stay feel easy and welcoming. He’s incredibly nice, and GardenSong is beautiful inside and out. The house has plenty of street parking and is quiet and well insulated. I especially appreciated the room darkening blinds, which I rarely find when traveling. The bed and pillows were comfy, and I liked the sheets enough to buy a set for myself later. There was a mini fridge stocked with water, soda, and wine, plus everything else I could need. GardenSong deserves its five-star reviews, and I’d happily stay again.

Our family of four fit comfortably in the spacious Clark Gable suite. The mattresses were comfortable, and the attached sleeping sunroom was bright and charming. The property and room were very clean, and the location was excellent for walking to everything we wanted to do. We were given a voucher for breakfast at Natchez Coffee instead of eating onsite; that worked fine, and the weekend buffet there was delicious. The bed frame in the main bedroom was awful. It shook and made loud, horrible noises with even the slightest movement. I’m only 130 pounds, and I woke everyone. The check-in was also a problem: no instructions or email arrived, nobody was available on property at 2:50 p.m., and the phone number went unanswered. We wandered around trying to find our room along with two other guests. The front door had been left unlocked and stayed that way our whole visit, with keys in the doors to each room. That felt unsafe and unwise. The owners seem pretty hands off, and I can’t imagine no one has noticed or heard about that bed before. Their site also didn’t say some suites are up several flights of stairs. That was fine for us, but wouldn’t work for many people, including my parents. Without the bad bed and check-in, I’d give it five stars.

We felt so welcome at this amazing, historic house in Natchez. Dan Gibson was a wonderful host, and just before we left he even played a lovely song for us on the piano. What a surprise to learn we’d slept in the same room Clark Gable used when he visited Natchez! Highly recommended. Top!

GardenSong sits in Natchez’s historic downtown residential area, among beautiful homes and gardens, and the town is compact and easy to explore on foot. Dan owns the place and was a charming host and wonderful pianist. He serenaded us after breakfast one morning and again late that night. Kevin, also charming, made us a delicious breakfast. We came with my husband and friends for the spring pilgrimage, our second visit to Natchez and our second stay at GardenSong. We shared the Cole Porter room, with two connected bedrooms and a shared bathroom. It worked great for friends and family, and I’d recommend GardenSong.
