Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Natchitoches by IHG

I was glad to get out first thing in the morning. The room smelled terrible, the bathroom door wouldn't close, and there were dead roaches and stains on the carpet. The window and TV had stains that looked like bodily fluids. It seemed like the room hadn't been cleaned properly in years. Absolutely disgusting and appalling. I wouldn't recommend anyone stay here, ever. You should be embarrassed. I have photos, but can't see a way to upload them with the review.

We only gave it two stars because the beds were so comfortable, the breakfast was really good, and the people were friendly. The room itself was very dirty, with a dead roach, water damage that made the bathroom door hard to close, and an unpleasant smell. Holiday Inn's are usually very nice, but this one wasn't. At $160 a night, it didn't feel worth the price.

The hotel is close to the university and Dark Woods adventure park. We played mini golf at Dark Woods and really enjoyed it. Our room was clean, with comfortable pillows and a comfortable bed. It got colder than any hotel room I've slept in for a while: we set the thermostat to 68 degrees, and it actually reached that temperature. Breakfast was awesome. They had great coffee, eggs, ham, biscuits, pancakes, kids' cereal, cinnamon rolls, chocolate milk, and muffins.

The “Hospitality Promise” wasn't kept. Our sofa bed had no sheets, so I had to get them from the lobby, and they didn't have any more pillows. The toilet kept running too. In the morning, my kiddo wanted a cinnamon roll. I figured the breakfast area just hadn't been restocked, but the woman working there snapped, “yeah, THEY ARE OUT,” without even turning around to tell us. I just said “ok thanks” because my daughter was with me. On my own, I would have had other words to say. I've stayed at plenty of hotels and tipped the breakfast staff, but this woman took it the other way. Hospitality is the hotel business. If she hates working there, she should go somewhere else and have enough self-respect to do her job when a child just wants a cinnamon roll. Don't let the 3.9 stars fool you.
