Piety Hill Cottages

We live nearby and booked the Daphne Cottage for a parents’ night out during Halloween, so we could enjoy our town’s festivities. The bed was wonderfully cozy, and having hot water ready for tea before bed was a nice touch. Booking was quick, and self check-in went smoothly. It’s peaceful and private while still being within walking distance of everything. I wish we’d discovered these cottages sooner, and I’ll be telling friends and clients about them. We’ll be back.

The cottage is close enough to downtown to walk, and it’s also near shops, hiking trails, and Lake Tahoe. Parking deserves a heads-up: there are at least four spaces out front, but the garage is tiny and really only fits a very small car. If you’re driving a truck or larger vehicle, it’ll be hard to use. There’s no office, so make sure you get a call or text from the number on the website with the code for the wooden mailbox-like box. Your keys will be inside an envelope with your last name. We had to cut our stay short after a tree came down in a heavy rainstorm and our unit lost power. Thankfully, nobody was hurt. Dead trees should be cut down. It’s a great cottage otherwise, and I recommend it and hope to return soon.

The reading lights were the standout for me: they have dimmers and can get as bright as you want, unlike the useless lights in most hotel rooms. The cottage itself was a lovely surprise, modern and spotless, with a walk-in shower I’d love to have at home. This place is a winner.

On my two-week driving trip out west, this ended up being my favorite place to stay. The room was cozy and had the essentials, with a comfortable bed and a beautifully done bathroom. The walk-in shower was spacious and great. Downtown is nearby, with interesting shops and restaurants, and the Saturday Farmers market is well worth a stroll. I’d absolutely stay again.
