On the night of the 26th, storms left the Hampton inn with no rooms. My big truck had sprung a leak and I had no heat, so after sitting in it in the cold for hours, I went in and asked the night auditor if I could warm up. She immediately said yes, let me sit there until places opened where I could get help, and even offered me coffee. I’m tremendously grateful for her hospitality. A woman claiming to be a diamond member and to work for Towneplace Marriott was drunk and belligerent, repeatedly telling the auditor she’d lose her job for doing it. The auditor stayed patient and composed. The woman had apparently been filmed, and I believe the police had been called earlier. I mention that because the auditor showed her grace despite how she was being treated. Thank you so much for your kindness.

I won’t stay here again, and I wouldn’t recommend it. When I entered with my digital key, someone was still in my room, getting changed. The front desk employee had ignored me when I came in five minutes earlier, and then wasn’t at her post, so I had to call to get her back. She didn’t apologize when I explained what happened. Instead, she yelled three times for another employee who couldn’t hear her, then moved me to a different room. As a gold member, I was supposed to get two complimentary waters and a snack, but got one water and attitude. The new room was accessible, and the bathroom smelled like a nursing home. When I asked for another room, they said they were fully booked. I went to dinner and then bed, but in the morning I saw what looked like pure neglect: hair in every corner and mold, or who knows what else, in the shower. Disgusting. This is a disgrace to the Hilton name.

The grounds were nice, with a nice pool, and the staff were friendly. It’s close to restaurants, and the beds were comfortable. The place is currently being renovated. We had a room on the bottom front, right by the highway, so it was loud and we could feel the vibration in the bed. Keeping the fan running for noise helped us get a pretty good night’s sleep. I’d try to get a room on an upper front floor.

Todd at the front desk was great: thorough, helpful, and able to answer all my group’s questions. We booked two rooms at the last minute while passing through, and they were clean with everything working well. We also liked the breakfast and found the workout area very clean. The pool area badly needed attention, though. We were talking about whether to let the kids in the water, and then they just jumped in. Overall, it was a good stay and I’d come back.

The service was fine, but we had the worst hotel experience we’ve had. We’d driven for 14 hours and booked the Hampton Inn because our past stays with the chain were usually good. The mattress was hard, unlike what we’d expect there. The freeway noise was unbelievably loud all night, and the AC sounded like a freight train when it kicked on about every half hour. It didn’t regulate based on the temperature. Neither of us slept more than three hours. We won’t stay there again on our way through, and can’t recommend it.
