Motel 6 New Brunswick

The room didn’t have a fridge or microwave, which was really inconvenient, especially since they promote kitchens. The only people I met with good customer service were the man and woman working late nights. The morning staff member was very disrespectful. We got in late one night and overslept, and she came to the door demanding that we pay or leave before checkout time. She kept banging every 30 seconds and basically harassing us. We didn’t have a vehicle and were trying to get a ride, but she told us to leave and not come back, and threatened to call the police over and over. I don’t recommend staying here.

Someone set off the fire alarm at 4:30 a.m., waking everyone up. The other tenants looked sketchy, and as I was leaving, I saw three police cars pull up. The room itself was filthy, smelled bad, and was dilapidated. The buttons on the heater were worn down, so someone had put masking tape over them and written “ON” and “OFF.” Some floor tiles were missing, and the bathroom was gross. Customer service was terrible, and they barely spoke English. Another reviewer said the pictures looked nothing like the place in person, and they were right. It was probably the most disgusting place I’ve ever stayed.

I felt very uncomfortable. There was a sticky substance on the bed, so I refused to sleep on it and spent the night on the table beside the chair. The bathroom reeked like a dead body, and I felt like somebody was in the bathroom in room 10. Someone knocked at my door at 3 a.m. Staff were very rude, and on February 2nd at 9:30-10 p.m., a staff member held a gun to my head. I did not like it. STAY OUT OF ROOM 10.

There was no hot water during my stay at this Motel 6. I called the front desk but got no answer, and the desk was unattended for about 45 minutes. When the agent finally came back, she said the hotel had been without hot water for over a week. She apologized for not telling me upfront, but refused a refund or any compensation. When I brought it up, she got defensive and pointed me to a small-print notice among many others behind the desk, as if guests were expected to spot it. Hot water is a basic lodging requirement in New Jersey, especially in winter. An issue this serious should be clearly disclosed before booking. Unacceptable service and management.
