Red Carpet Inn New Brunswick

We arrived to find someone sitting outside our room. Then we were effectively stuck inside while she yelled at staff and police for about 30 minutes. The room was clean enough, but there was no microwave or mini fridge, and the room phone had no cable. The highway location is right next to a merge, so arriving and leaving was stressful. Update: there was no breakfast, so we made a frantic escape to find coffee and food. They did have stacks of alcohol-free Heineken by check-in, though. The parking lot also had people changing into their outfits before meeting someone in a room. It is what it is, but we won’t be back.

I checked in at 11 p.m. on August 22, but checked out 20 minutes later because the room had dirt and food crumbs left by the previous tenant. When I turned on the bathroom light, three cockroaches ran across the room. I took a picture of one and showed it to the night clerk. She asked if I wanted another room. I wanted a refund, since I wasn’t staying in a room with active cockroaches and leftover dirt and crumbs. Since then, the motel and booking.com have been trying very hard not to refund me. They have one more week before I take alternative measures. The customer service was horrible, and the woman on the night shift was so rude.

A nice place to get away from the hectic pace of city life. The staff were efficient and very well mannered.

I needed an affordable place while spending some time in New Brunswick, and the Red Carpet Inn worked out well. They’d recently changed management, and everything was clean. The room felt comfortable and tidy, and I could tell they were making an effort to keep things that way. It’s not the Ritz, but for the price it was exactly what I wanted. I’d stay again if I needed somewhere affordable and clean in the area.
