The Heldrich Hotel

The water damage and general wear make the room feel badly in need of an update. Paneling under the sink was peeling away, wallpaper was wrinkled in the corners, and the bathroom had some sheetrock damage. There was long blonde hair in both the shower and the bed. The fourth floor also felt and smelled damp as we came out of the elevators, and after my husband showered, maintenance came to say water was leaking down to the third floor. Chipped wood and stained carpets were noticeable too. I'm sure they cleaned as best they could, but the furniture, doors, walls, bathroom fixtures, and carpets all need work. It didn't feel like a four-star stay to us.

The location is amazing, and I'd come back. The bathroom and tub were spotless, which I appreciated, though the rest could use a fresh coat of paint. The beds are soft, so keep that in mind if you like a firm mattress. The indoor pool was closed, along with the sunroom around it, so call ahead to check.

We were there for a graduation-retirement banquet and didn't stay overnight, so I can't speak to the rooms. The venue worked well, and the food was really good. Service was spot on, and the staff seemed used to working together since everything ran smoothly. The valet was helpful too.

The place impressed me from the outside, then even more once I got inside and saw the modern amenities. The food was fantastic, the rooms were clean, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. I attended the Middlesex county Summit business event there and it went great. I hope they hold it there again next time.
