Quality Inn Newark - Wilmington

My dad left early and had paid several days in advance, but they wouldn’t refund him. He won’t stay there again. During his few days there, no one ever cleaned his room. We had to switch rooms because the first TV didn’t work; the next room had no phone until staff installed one, and the fridge didn’t work either. The shower stayed hot, and I didn’t see bugs, but it’s an old place with plenty of shady people around. When I called my dad, the man answering the phone acted strangely, at one point saying another guest was using the line. What kind of place is this? What a dump. You get what you pay for.

The staff are helpful and kind, and everything in the room worked well, from the heating and AC to the fridge, coffee pot, and microwave. It’s clean and well cared for, with the best prices around. I love this place and won’t stay at another inn, motel, or hotel.

The lobby was locked when I went to buy water or soda for my medication, and the staff member said it wouldn’t open until 7am. It was his attitude that really bothered me. He repeated my “wow” rudely, then stared at me aggressively as I walked away. I’ve worked in hospitality for over 15 years, and this kind of behavior starts problems. The toilet keeps backing up, the rooms smell, and the halls are dirty. Worst hotel I’ve stayed in. I’d pay the extra $5 a night for a better stay. This gets minus five from me.

The area felt sketchy, and I didn’t feel good about leaving my car there. Inside, the room smelled worse than outside and definitely wasn’t clean. The beds felt broken. It was scary all around, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
