Red Carpet Inn & Suites New Cumberland

The staff were really helpful and nice. The man at the front desk even lent me a phone charger for the night. I was in the red carpet inn section, where the room had a cool lodge feel, two beds, a full fridge, a microwave, and two couches. I paid $60 and got a huge room. I ended up here during the crazy snowstorm on Nov 15, 2018, when I couldn’t get from Harrisburg to York. It isn’t a "5 star luxury hotel", but I have no complaints and the price was hard to beat. The little continental breakfast was better than the usual too, with sausage and eggs along with the standard options.

The health department received a complaint from us, and we also told Fairview Township Police about what happened. An officer came out and took a report, but said they unfortunately don’t get involved in these things. We had put several bed bugs in a plastic bag, recorded them crawling around, and took lots of photos of them on the bed. The people who came up to the room while we were packing took pictures of us and our cars, and harassed us, telling us to get the f*** outta here. Afterward, the staff did nothing except try to bully and swear at us to leave. This happened the night of October 13, 2019. We checked in that afternoon, went to Hershey to the park, and came back later to sleep. Before turning off the lights, we started itching. We looked more closely than we had at check-in and found bed bugs on both beds, under the box spring, behind the headboard, and beneath the sheets. We went straight to the desk and demanded a refund. They offered another room, which we refused, and at first wouldn’t refund us. We said we’d call the health department. They told us to go ahead and said they didn’t care. We eventually got our money back. I travel to many states for work all over the country, and this is the grossest motel I’ve ever been in. I wouldn’t wish it on an enemy. I’d rather sleep in my car than stay here, at any time. There are also reviews saying the Days Inn next door, which they also own, has bed bugs. Please don’t stay here unless you don’t care about this sort of thing. I can’t imagine anyone not caring.

The rooms were really dirty and smelled moldy. This place is absolutely disgusting, and I strongly wouldn’t recommend it. There are plenty of other good, cheap motels and hotels nearby.

The TV was basically unwatchable because the coaxial lines were so deteriorated that there was static everywhere. The internet was laughable too. Having to call the front desk every day to get them to reset the modem had gotten old by day three. Then the boiler went out, leaving us without hot water for two days so far. When I asked when it would be fixed, they said I could swim in the pool for free. I still don’t know what that has to do with taking a hot shower. This is one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in for a while. Don’t stay here.
