We were in town for a kids’ dance competition. The hotel has a really good location, and it was nice enough. Inside, the decor takes you back to the 80s. There were lots of people about, and over the weekend millions of college kids seemed to be having a great time going from bar to bar. One day they’ll make New Haven Great again!

The staff were really nice and check-in was easy, but this hotel is basic, just a building with rooms to sleep in. They charge too much for parking, WiFi, and the restaurant. There are no bellhops, vending machines, luggage carts, or room service. For a soda, you have to cross the street to a scary mini mart. Homeless people were asking for money both in the lobby and outside. I’ve stayed in a million hotels and haven’t seen one with so few amenities. Overpriced, nothing special. Find another hotel, seriously.

I’m an Omni member and usually enjoy my stays, but the customer service during this visit stood out even more. Janaysia Stanley was amazing. The ballroom is a fairly typical event space, with a big dance floor and plenty of room for VIP sections. I’ve been to several events at the Omni, and this was our second Herman Ham's All Black Affair there. The drinks were just okay, but it’s a nice space overall.

The breakfast buffet was very average, and noise from people heading to the club across the street went on all Saturday night. Anyone with a room facing that street is in for a rough night. The rooms themselves were clean and comfortable, and the restaurant has a great view of New Haven. It’s a decent hotel.
