Best Western Sycamore Inn

We’ve been here for three months while moving from Colorado back to IL, and it’s been a really good stay. Our room is spacious, quiet, clean, and comfortable, and the breakfast is great. The staff are friendly, efficient, and professional, and the people who tidy our room are especially thorough and pleasant. I’ve seen no bugs anywhere during these three months. About Ms. Mitten’s recent negative comment, I wish she had stopped the kids in her group from yelling in the hall until 10 pm, then again at 5 am. The very patient employees were trying hard to keep some order while the kids disturbed the rest of us, without having to ask the group to leave. Best Western - Sycamore, you’re awesome!

The room was large, clean, and comfortable, and I found the staff really friendly. Breakfast was more than adequate, and the amenities were sufficient. My one gripe was the lighting at the bathroom mirror. Its backlight was closer to a night-light than proper illumination, which made applying makeup difficult while I was in town for a competition. Pretty annoying, but otherwise I had a comfortable stay.

I’m updating this after the owners’ response on 10/9/25. My photos have date, time, and city stamps, so the claim that they aren’t from this hotel is delusional. I have no reason to make up what happened on my birthday. My husband even came early to improve our room options because we wouldn’t arrive until later and didn’t want whatever room was left. We’re Priceline Gold members and travel often, and in 20 years of stays we’ve never had this happen before. We chose to stay nearby for my birthday so we could watch movies and relax. The floor was awful and the room was very hot when we arrived, with a musty smell, so we turned on the air and gave it a moment. I hadn’t even mentioned those things. Seeing roaches was my one legitimate complaint, and it wasn’t a lie. Having to shake every item out in the middle of the night before packing, so I wouldn’t bring roaches home, was unacceptable. I’ve read earlier complaints and haven’t seen one handled with class or empathy, only denial and disregard. Our record is clean; the hotel has a history of lies and deception. It’s shameful. Thank God we booked through priceline. We work hard for our money and shouldn’t have to be dissatisfied or inconvenienced, especially on my birthday. Original review: There were roaches in the hotel. I took several pictures and told the front desk right away. The guy there was very nice, but said the manager wouldn’t be in until morning. The manager said they hadn’t seen any roaches when they checked, and denied my complaint. I had no reason to lie, and as a first-time guest I felt they should take this more seriously. I know lots of hotels are older and I don’t complain much, but the chance of carrying roaches home is ridiculous. I was very unhappy and planned to keep looking for a resolution.

The large king room really impressed me. Both the room and the building were unbelievably clean, the prices are competitive, and the staff were great to talk to. I highly recommend the place and will return next time I’m in town. Big thanks to everyone at Best Western!
