Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham New Iberia

We had a good stay. The night clerk did a great job checking us in. Breakfast was lacking, though my family liked the coffee machine.

The indoor pool was freezing, and the parking lot made me uneasy. A car was stolen during our stay, and there were several parties where large groups of men got drunk and barbecued there. I wanted to stay in the room with my children. We were there a little under a month while my husband worked, and the rooms were hit or miss. Our first was perfect, clean, with real comforters, a bathroom in great shape, and a refrigerator that worked amazingly. After checking out for one day, we came back to a room with a broken toilet and refrigerator, no real blankets, and no room service to take trash or bring towels. We had to get our own towels daily. The third room was a disgrace. The shower wouldn’t drain, the refrigerator didn’t work, and the room looked as if it had been hit by a hurricane and never repaired. Staff asked daily if we were leaving or how many guests were in the room, while room service still wasn’t doing its job and we had to ask for towels.

Breakfast was a mess, so we checked out and went to a restaurant instead. There was no milk for cereal or batter for waffles, and the tables and seats weren’t clean even though we were the only ones there. The tables were wet and sticky, with milk on the floor and food all over the floor and tables. I told the front desk; a blond woman said she’d speak to someone, while the man said nothing. He didn’t seem to care about cleaning or any of our complaints. At check-in, we asked for sheets for the couch bed and two pillows. We got two pillows, two cases, and one fitted sheet, then found the toilet wouldn’t flush. My husband got a plunger and fixed the flush button. When we asked for a flat sheet, the man wasn’t friendly about it. The floor turned our feet black, the bathtub had cracks in the bottom, and the bed sheets had dried blood on them. We complained, but the front desk man didn’t care, saying he’d already given us sheets for the couch. We should’ve checked out then. I took pictures of everything. I expect more from the “Choice” name. This hotel is filthy and the service is horrible. Filthy, filthy, filthy.

Breakfast was great, especially the waffles, eggs, and sausage, and I enjoyed my stay. The staff were friendly. My room had a refrigerator and microwave, though the refrigerator wasn’t cooling. Maintenance came quickly and fixed it. The A/C and cable TV worked well. The bathroom toilet seat looked old, and I’d heard some rooms didn’t have working refrigerators or microwaves. My room also had no small washcloths, but luckily I brought my own towels. I stayed here as a Choice member because of the recent hurricane.
