Ramada by Wyndham New Iberia

The place looked run down outside, and the room smelled so bad that I tried using my cologne to cover it, without success. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling, and some lamps and sockets didn’t work. The front desk said there was no cable because it was being worked on, so I had to go get a TV from somewhere else. When I arrived from Texas, they asked for a deposit on top of the room payment and gave me a ticket for breakfast. The place was nasty and not fit for a stay of a few days. I wouldn’t recommend it, and the breakfast was horrible.

We got a weird vibe. There weren’t many hotel guests, but quite a few people seemed to live there, and breakfast was almost empty. We wouldn’t stay again. We arrived late and were told there was no working television on the property. What choice did we have at that point? The first room was dirty, so we asked to move. The second was dirty too, though not quite as bad, and we had to request fresh sheets and pillowcases before sleeping in the bed. They did a decent job cleaning when we asked the next day. One staff member, Mishayla (sp?), was very helpful and brought us whatever we needed. She also handled breakfast, which was decent.

The room was filthy. Huge stains covered the rug, walls, and ceiling, and it was very dusty. The AC vent looked like it hadn’t been wiped in months. There were old food bits in the refrigerator and microwave, plus dirt and hairs in the mini-fridge freezer. The decorative pillows had white stains, and the chair had what I assume was mud on it. There were no plugs close to the bed, and the outlets were so loose that nothing would stay plugged in without maneuvering. The shower took 15+ minutes to get hot. I thought things might improve with the new owners, but it was worse. They said there was no cable, so I’d need a fire stick or game console to connect to the wifi and watch TV. I didn’t have one with me. I wouldn’t recommend this place. If I could share photos of how filthy it was, I would.

I was afraid to sleep under the covers, so I had to buy my own. I stayed the night of February 4 and checked out on the 5th. The first room I got was 137. The toilet had bowel residue, the towels were dirty, and I cleaned the tub myself. I went back to the front desk to tell the young lady, and he did give me another room after saying there were no rooms available up front. In room 175, the tub still wasn’t clean, and there was something behind the door that looked like moss on the wall. The carpet was stained and dirty. I was pressed for time and couldn’t go back to the desk. I’ve stayed there several times before and never had these problems. I don’t know if it’s because of new management or ownership, but I won’t stay there again.
