Gedney Farm

The staff were wonderful and helpful, and we really enjoyed the Italian menu in the fall and winter. The restaurant food was delicious. Our room was in a beautiful old barn, with a huge, clean bathroom, a super comfortable bed, and a real wood fireplace that only needed a match to get going. The grounds are serene, with walking paths. What an amazing place. Highly recommend staying.

The staff made everything feel easy. Reception was warm and inviting, servers were friendly and attentive, and nothing seemed overlooked. It’s a very well-run place, highly recommended. We were there for a memorial service in the large converted barn, and the space was beautiful. The lighting added so much to the atmosphere that everyone was talking about it. It would also make a perfect wedding reception venue, and the photos would be magnificent. We couldn’t try the restaurant, but the reception food was terrific, made with high-quality ingredients and prepared superbly. If I were looking for a restaurant in the Berkshires, Gedney Kitchen would be high on my list. The guest house rooms had authentic furnishings and high-quality bedding, and ours even had a working fireplace. The whole place felt immediately relaxing, with latched doors, random-width floorboards, and stone fireplaces. The Berkshires location is gorgeous.

The repurposed barn is a memorable event space, with cozy areas by the fireplace alongside a vaulted room for dining and dancing. Another barn has been turned into a small hotel, with unusual common spaces and rooms that range from colonial proportions to something more like a tree house. It’s a fun place for people attending an event. Walking paths connect the farm and hills while giving some privacy from the main areas.

The breakfast is limited, and gluten-free needs aren’t accommodated unless you’re happy with just fruit. That’s the only real drawback, and it won’t stop us coming back to this warm, cozy, romantic place. We’ve stayed at Gedney Farm three times now, and it gets better with every visit. This time our second-floor suite had an oversized jacuzzi tub, a fireplace in the sitting area, big windows, and high ceilings that made the cozy room feel dramatic. There’s also a sweet little indoor terrace right outside the suite, a lovely spot for morning coffee. On earlier stays, we had spacious but cozy rooms with modern bathrooms, and the Loft Suite was heated by a fireplace, which was surprisingly charming. Both rooms felt very private. We’re counting the days until we can return.
