Empress Hotel

The bathroom trash hadn't been emptied, and the shower, toilet, and floors were filthy. We also saw bugs and dripping pipes as soon as we entered the room. When we called the owner to ask for a refund, she said the hotel “is not a Hilton.” I understand a small hotel may not offer the same amenities as a big chain, but basic cleanliness and safety still matter. I usually try to support small businesses, but this place's condition was unacceptable. Based on our stay, I'd strongly suggest reconsidering it. Honestly, postponing a trip would be better than staying somewhere that feels unsanitary, unsafe, and unwilling to work with guests.

The staff were friendly, and the price was low, with free parking and an easy walk to the French Quarter. Still, this was easily the least satisfactory hotel I've stayed in. I had security concerns because the room used a traditional key and had no interior safety lock. The room was small and in poor condition, while the bathroom was clean but dated and worn. I also found two small dead roaches in the bathtub and a larger dead one on the floor beside the bed. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless a low-cost place to sleep is your main priority and you can overlook those drawbacks.

The bathroom sink was clogged, the shower water never got hot, and the tub filled with cloudy water. The room was tiny and dirty, and the mattress had a stain that looked like someone died there. A mirror was shattered on the floor with glass around it. The handyman leaned it against the wall instead of hanging it because it kept falling. Bourbon Street is quite a hike from here, and they had the nerve to charge over $300 a night. Don't waste your money.

We’ll definitely be back. The hotel matched the pictures and wasn't disappointing at all, as long as you're not expecting anything fancy. The staff were very nice, the location was perfect, and parking was free. There's also a really good balcony.
