The Royal Sonesta New Orleans

The doorman staff were the highlight, so friendly and accommodating. They were the only reason I came away feeling good about the place. At check-in, I was told the room was ready, but going in two hours early would cost $50. The weekend rate I was quoted was $728, but somehow it went up by $200, plus $300 for incidentals that I still haven’t gotten back. The room was clean, but the TV never worked properly and the shower only trickled. The bartender at the Jazz club was probably the rudest person I’ve encountered in a while. Dinner at the hotel’s lower end seafood restaurant was mediocre at best.

April at the front desk was helpful and full of information, and Caleb the door man was such a kind person. Jamie served us on several days, offered good local music suggestions, and was so nice. He and Demarco also served us in the jazz lounge, where the show was amazing and the drinks they made were delightful. We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Sonesta l. The room and beds were very clean and comfortable, and our interior balcony double room stayed quiet at night. Breakfast at Desire was delicious, and the servers were lovely. The pool was clean with a great vibe, and the bartenders there were great too. The whole experience exceeded what I expected. Thanks for a great vacation, I’ll be back.

Caleb welcomed us so warmly as soon as we arrived, and all the staff we met were lovely. The room was clean, the pool was relaxing, and the location was perfect. Such a great hotel and experience. Hope to come back soon!

We only used the parking garage, so I can’t speak to the rooms, but Joe at valet made our visit. He quickly helped us get started, asked about our trip, and gave our family of six useful recommendations and directions. He was like a concierge. When the heat got to the kids after 2.5 hours, my wife and I headed back feeling disappointed that our New Orleans outing was ending early. Before we even reached the bottom of the garage ramp, Joe had our van ready. When I asked how he knew we were back, he smiled and said, “a magician never reveals his secret!” He could tell we were down about leaving early, so when we explained the heat was the problem, he suggested indoor activities and some really cool cemeteries we could drive through in the comfort of our van. Joe made our exchange with the Royal Sonesta, and honestly New Orleans, the experience we wanted. They’re lucky to have him.
