Inn at the Old Jail

The communal space is pleasant, and the coffee station is well stocked. At Mardi Gras, the king cake was a nice touch. The caretaker, Todd, responded well to my questions by text. I’d highly recommend this unusual place with so much history. I don’t often get dropped at a hotel by an Uber driver who says he had to stay there as a juvenile delinquent back in the day. Cheers!

Locals told us we were staying in the coolest neighborhood in New Orleans. The place itself is such a fun, unusual stay, with history and style. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

Just outside the French Quarter in the heart of Tremé, this Inn is well placed for exploring more of the city than tourists usually see. The rooms are lovely and well appointed, and the ambience is off the charts. They sometimes host secret shows, so a local musician might stop by to jam. A perfect choice for a distinctive New Orleans stay.

The bed was so comfortable it was hard to get up in the morning, and the bathrooms were spotless with a rain shower. I’d suggest replacing the shower liner. The towels, washcloths, and bedding smelled freshly laundered, which I loved. Parking is on the street, but I never had trouble finding a spot beside the jail, even though I came and went a lot. The privately owned place has a very nice owner who greeted me with a smile, showed me around, and gave me a tour. He responded quickly to questions and sent a great list of nearby places to eat and visit within walking distance. The rooms and whole Inn keep the old 1900s jail feel, with modern updates for comfort. The concept suits NOLA and was really cool. I don’t want to give too much away, since seeing it in person is something a review can’t quite do justice to. I loved it, I’m telling EVERYONE I know, and I’ll be back soon. 10/10 worth it.
