The rooms are roomy, and the beds are comfortable. There’s a kitchenette but no stove, and guests can use the free laundry room. Valet parking cost about 360 for the week. You can walk to pretty much everything, and there’s also a hop-on, hop-off bus stop at 6 and public transportation.
The two valet attendants were welcoming and friendly, and told us a lot about events in NOLA. The manager over valet was informative and professional, and the damage to our rental was handled pretty smoothly. The valet damaged it, though thankfully it was still drivable, and they’re taking responsibility. We were here on business and brought my sister for her birthday. She absolutely enjoyed it, and the place itself was beautiful. The two stars for service were because the weekend desk staff didn’t seem interested in helping. When we asked questions, nobody knew anything.
The location is a real strength of Club Wyndham La Belle Maison, close to many New Orleans attractions and convenient for exploring on foot. Our room was clean and in good condition. Still, the resort is very basic, with no restaurant or bar and a very small pool. There was no stove, which made cooking difficult, and the older cable TV wasn’t a smart TV and couldn’t really be watched from the bed. Only two elevators were available during our whole stay, and one was out of service the entire time. Waiting for a single elevator got very frustrating. The worst part was our experience as Club Wyndham Discovery owners. This was our first trip using Discovery points, and nobody told us before arrival that we’d have to attend a timeshare presentation. We learned that at check-in. We agreed to go and were told it would take about an hour. We showed up early as requested and explained from the start that we hadn’t been satisfied with Discovery so far, especially how hard it was to find availability and make reservations, and that we weren’t interested in becoming full owners right now. The meeting dragged on for about an hour and a half. We had our two-year-old daughter with us, had already done a morning tour, and hadn’t eaten lunch. When we said we couldn’t keep waiting and needed to go, the representative didn’t try to help. They just said, “Nobody is keeping you here, you can leave whenever you want,” and told us we’d lose the tour benefits we were waiting for. Those two tours weren’t even truly complimentary, since we’d already paid $100 for two adults. We felt like our time didn’t matter. Thankfully, the manager who helped afterward listened, resolved the tour issue, and offered a zoo pass for our daughter to make up for the inconvenience. The room was acceptable and the location good, but the presentation and overall service fell far short of our expectations. We wouldn’t return to this property, and don’t feel encouraged to become full Wyndham owners in the future.
Our two-bedroom lock-off was perfect for two couples, with plenty of room and comfortable beds. The master room had a stove and oven, and service was great. There are a few restaurants within two blocks, and it’s an easy walk to Canal Street for the trolley, with the RTA bus there too. The location was wonderful. Parking is difficult, so we used Wyndham valet. It was pricey, especially as owners, and we feel owners should pay less.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and everything felt like five-star service. I also liked being just a short walk from the French Quarter without staying right in the middle of it. After the excitement of New Orleans, coming back to our room at La Belle Maison was one of the best parts of the trip. It felt like a little bit of paradise, with no detail overlooked.
