Check-in and parking were handled at The Prytania Park Hotel, just 0.2 miles away. I thought that might be a hassle, but it really wasn't bad. The parking lot was well lit, with security walking around, and breakfast is served there too. The front desk staff were great and filled us in on parades and other things going on. Housekeeping was on point and cleaned the rooms quickly. The beautiful Victorian home had lots of space and everything we needed: a fridge, microwave, iron, toiletries, internet, and an ice machine on the first floor. The AC/heat started fast, and the room reached our preferred temperature quickly. We felt safe in the area, with Bourbon Street and Jackson Square only 10 minutes away. Definitely coming back!

The room was on the small side, but cozy, with an antique feel. The toilets were clean and we enjoyed our stay, though the beds could have been bigger. The location is handy, and the Saint Charles Street Car stop for the French quarter is within walking distance. Check-in and car parking are across the street at the Prytania Park Hotel.

The room we were moved to had been officially cleaned, but still wasn't very clean. My husband opened the fridge and found moldy food that wasn't ours. All they offered was an apology. It had low ceilings and felt like being shoved into an attic, and it wasn't as nice as the room we booked. We asked for a discount, but were told it cost the same, even though their website lists it for less. They did take a little off the bill at checkout, so I didn't push further. We were very unhappy with the stay. The photos show a dead bug in the bathroom, a water-damaged ceiling, and an unclean sink. I wanted to like this charming hotel, but our first room hadn't been cleaned at all. The bed was unmade and the trash was full, so they switched us to another room on the third floor.

There were dead bugs by the window, fecal matter on the toilet seat, a bad smell in the room, and then I spotted a huge live cockroach. I tried calling the front desk several times with no answer. I decided to end my stay and told the desk about the problems. The front desk person called the owner, Dori, and put me on the phone with her. Dori was the rudest, most unprofessional business owner I've dealt with. She didn't apologize once, instead blaming me for "not trying hard enough" to find staff to deal with it. There is no staff in the Queen Anne, and they hadn't answered the phone despite my repeated calls. She also told me this is Louisiana and to "get over the fact cockroaches get inside." I said I wouldn't stay another night and shouldn't be charged for that extra night. She yelled that their policy doesn't allow refunds, though I was only asking for the night I no longer planned to stay after what happened. After a screaming match, a first for me, she said she was done talking and hung up. Worst hotel and customer service experience I've ever had. I don't recommend this business. It ruined my trip.

We liked being in a quieter neighborhood while still having the city's attractions close by, and the hotel itself was quiet too. In four days, we only saw other guests once, apart from the ones at the continental breakfast served just around the corner. The place is lovely and conveniently close to the streetcar line.
