We were glad the concierge was so helpful and kind, and the location gave us things to do while we waited. The room was nice, and we enjoyed the valet parking in a garage. But even though we were due to check in at 130, we were told no rooms were ready until 4, then didn't actually get one until 545. What an awful inconvenience. Breakfast wasn't good. I guess the free food was a bonus if you like basic options and fake eggs. We'd come back, but knowing our room might take a while to be ready and that we'd eat elsewhere.

Joseph Thomas at the desk and Joe Brown, the car attendant, were so helpful and caring. They answered our questions and made the hotel feel pleasant during our stay while we toured wedding venues for Our Granddaughter. Their service made this a delightful visit, and we'll remember them. We plan to choose this hotel for Our Granddaughter's wedding next year. Thank you again, Joseph Thomas and Joe Brown, for your OUTSTANDING SERVICE.

We waited until 530 to get checked in, and our second room wasn't ready until almost 630, even though check in was supposed to happen by 4. David at the front desk was amazing. He put us on the early check in list and held our luggage, and we walked around and waited by the pool. But whenever we checked with Virginia, she was unfriendly and gave us attitude. When my sister stood in line, Virginia rudely asked, “do you need something?” David deserves a raise, and virgina needs to learn manners.

We chose this place for a five day vacation because the price was decent, and we did get early check in. The hotel smelled pleasant, unlike the rest of the French Quarter. We were on the 4th floor. The long hallways looked beautiful and recently remodeled, and the room was a nice size and quiet, though the building creaked as it settled at night. There was cracked trim near the ceilings. We know what happens below us in NOLA, so that seemed normal. It wasn't horrible, and I hope this feedback helps improve the stay. I'd recommend it as a budget option. There were a lot of housekeeping problems. A used cleaning sponge was in the kitchen, the trash can was rusted and sat in the hallway for two days despite our asking about it on night one, and the dish detergent had been used. There were small beads on the bathroom floor behind the door and sticky floors by the dishwasher, so we weren't confident the dishes were clean. After the first night, we got towels that seemed unlaundered and left lint on us. New towels are good, but they should be washed first. The kitchen and bathroom tile should be mopped with water and antibacterial cleaner. I assume the company doesn't require that, but it should. There were small traces of mold in the shower, probably from age and repeated moisture, which could be dealt with using bleach. Housekeeping came on day two and replaced the towels. They were nice, but two guests should get four washcloths, not three. The body wash was also nearly gone. The $80 a day deposit felt unreasonable for a hotel that isn't high end. The TV kept cutting in and out despite several maintenance and building engineering employees trying to fix it. It took a while for anyone to come because one employee was running the hotel alone and seemed frustrated. He gave me his manager's card, and he was pleasant on the other days when help was available. The first “engineer” sent up wasn't kind and told us, “Do not move the TV.” We were in a suite and it was on a swiveling mount, so it was meant to move. After talking to a supervisor and others, we gave up and lived with a TV that still flickered off and on. Breakfast was as expected, with plenty of pork and several foods for people who don't eat meat. The chicken tacos confused me. I liked the grits, potatoes, and waffles. Turkey sausage was sparse, but it was the best meat when available. Turkey kielbasa would be just as good as pork, so they should make that substitution. The scrambled eggs were watery, and boiled eggs would be nice. It would also be nice to have a basic creole sauce. They stored our bags after checkout because we had a late flight. I had two bags, but one wasn't ticketed, so it wasn't handed back until I asked for it.
