The worst part was how poorly the hotel handled a known problem. Staff admitted Room 418 at the Marriott Warehouse District has significant noise from the fitness center right above it, but our complaints were repeatedly lost. No one followed up as promised or took ownership. The hotel has a great location, and a manager did try to help on our final night, but knowingly assigning this room and then mishandling the complaints made for a very disappointing stay. The noise started around 5:45 a.m. with weights dropping, equipment rolling, and impacts echoing through the room. We couldn’t sleep through it. When we first called the desk, the employee seemed surprised and said they’d investigate. A staff member called back within minutes, confirmed it was coming from the fitness center, apologized, and said he’d arrange a room change. We were told someone would contact us, and the hotel had our cell numbers. Nobody called. That evening, the desk had no record of the complaint or promised move. The manager on duty said the hotel was full and couldn’t relocate us, while also acknowledging staff knew Room 418 had noise issues. The same loud noise woke us before dawn the next morning. When we checked again the following day, there were still no notes, follow-up, or record of a room move being discussed. On our final night, a manager we found offered to move us and was genuinely apologetic. By then we’d spent several days in the room, were out all evening, wouldn’t return until late, and had an early departure, so moving wasn’t practical. DO NOT LET THEM PUT YOU IN ROOM 418. If they offer it and can’t give you another room, stay somewhere else.

Heather at the front desk made our arrival feel special. She was warm and welcoming, offered fantastic dinner recommendations, and recognized my Gold member status, which made me feel valued. The hotel is beautifully decorated, and thanks to her we got a room with a great view on the 15th floor. Heather, thank you for making this trip so special for my daughter and me. We truly appreciate you!

The service is what would bring me back to the Marriott Warehouse Arts District. The rooms were exactly what we needed, and over our 4-day stay the helpful, discreet staff made our family function go smoothly. The front desk made sure relatives had the right access to the right rooms while checking identities and maintaining security. Bell staff also helped me figure out how to move boxes from farther away than just my car, and got everything where it needed to go. I didn’t use valet myself, but Josh at the valet stand was incredibly friendly to my relatives. When we walked back from outdoor family photos, he’d proactively put water bottles in an ice bucket for us. The hotel’s relatively small footprint per floor worked well for a family gathering. There was room for everyone, but the building is taller than wide, so there were fewer steps along each hallway between rooms. That can help people with decreased mobility, even if it matters less to the young and limber. If you’re hosting a family function in New Orleans, that’s useful. Apologies to the staff whose names I’ve forgotten. My description generally applies to everyone.

The location was the best among the many hotels near the convention center, and the price was very affordable. You can step out, cross the street, and go through one of the convention center’s many doors. That short walk is especially welcome when you’re dressed up and wearing heels.

I booked months ahead, then they canceled my room and told me none were available, even after I showed them the reservation and booking number. Customer service was terrible. Is all of Marriott like this? This was my first time with Marriott, and it doesn’t look good for the company. Update: As I’m standing here, apparently this is happening to other people too.
