Royal Inn of New Orleans

It wasn’t a bad stay, but I won’t be coming back. The prices felt a bit high, and it was quiet with hardly anyone there, maybe three other cars in the lot. My main issue was a guy who asked if I was getting ice, then asked what room I was in, as if I were stealing it. I only saw him that one time.

The bedding and sheets were clean and in good shape, the parking lot was well maintained, and we had a very hot shower and a working mini fridge. But the microwave was broken and made an awful noise when we tried it. The Wi-Fi was terrible and barely usable. We stayed three nights, and on the second night the internet worked for only 20 minutes on one computer. Our phones and other laptop couldn’t connect.

For $130, two days here is a decent deal. Since I drive a truck, I liked having a truck stop right behind the place, though it was annoying to have to walk around the other hotel to reach it. The room had a king bed and the AC blew cold. There was a small hole in the wall, but it wasn’t a big deal. It’s not a long drive to the French Quarter or the zoo.

The interior feels much better after the remodeling, and the new flat-screen TVs are nice. Inside is comfortable, even if the outside looks a little eerie. Room cleaning is appreciated, when it happens. I don’t like that they use paper as bath mats, and the dim switch light above the right side of the bed isn’t enough. I’d rather have a lamp on each side. Also, every room seems to have either a king or full bed now, with no double beds 😤.
