Historic Streetcar Inn

The neighborhood was lovely, quiet, and felt safe, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. A streetcar stop is only a two-minute walk from the door, which made this little hotel a great value. My wife and I were especially impressed by the staff. Manager Kai and the front desk team were focused on making guests feel looked after. We were very happy we stayed, and we'll be back.

The location worked well, the property was gated, and check-in was simple. But cleanliness was a major problem. The room felt as though someone had only changed the sheets and left. We had to keep our shoes on because the floor was so dirty. The toilet hadn't been cleaned either, and there were still visible particles. We asked staff for cleaner so we could spray and scrub it ourselves. The AC smelled strongly of mildew and was covered in dust, as was the fan. My eyes and skin reacted during the stay, which I think may have been related. I know the building is old and has historic charm, but that doesn't excuse the hygiene. I wouldn't return or recommend it. It's hard to feel comfortable when the room isn't clean.

Our room on the first level was spacious and clean, with a large cable TV, a comfortable bed, and a bathroom with plenty of hot water. The air conditioning looked new. The one thing that didn't work well was the fridge. We also had easy access to coffee and the ice machine. There were spare towels, shampoo and bath foam, plus an oven for warming food in that same area. The smell of old carpet was awful, and my husband started coughing as soon as we got there. I had booked five nights, trusting the pictures were current, but we couldn't stay. There was one young woman there, but she didn't seem to understand what was happening and left us without help. No refund, no call back, nothing. We're out more than $600. If you want a decent stay, go somewhere else. Terrible experience. And don't use HOPPER!
