Soniat House

I still think about the cat who used to wander around the property. She was adorable. The rooms each had their own character when I stayed, and I hope the renovations preserve that special feel. Mornings meant freshly baked croissants and fresh orange juice in the gorgeous courtyard. It’s been a few years, but I’m waiting for a chance to return to Soniat House. One of the nicest places I’ve stayed.

I was there in late December 2020 and somehow never reviewed it, though I still remember the place. The garden, architecture and stairwell made it feel like going back in time, while still having all the amenities of the 21st century. The staff were wonderful and seemed happy to be there. Thanks to the owners and staff for taking such good care of us. I’ll stay here again next time I’m in NOLA.

The courtyards were beautiful, with water features and soft classical music, and there was a well-stocked honor bar. Breakfast was the only meal served, and it was a five-star start to the day: my first American biscuits were fantastic, with fresh orange juice and really good coffee. The peaceful street, church next door and easy access to the French quarter and other attractions made the location work well. Inside, the rooms were luxurious, and I wanted to take the bed home. Calling Soniat a hotel feels like calling Buckingham palace a house. Mark and his colleague gave us a warm welcome, and Calvin, the housekeepers and managers were professional and so helpful throughout. It was a calm, friendly haven, and we hope to come back. I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for warm hospitality and a quiet place to stay.

The courtyard was such a relaxing spot, and our room was beautifully furnished. It all had that old-time feel, but with the plush modern conveniences. We’ve traveled a lot, and the courtesy and friendliness from check-in through checkout stood out as something we’ve rarely experienced. Thanks for making our trip feel perfect again. We just love this place.
