The room was clean enough and we didn't have any real issues, but the smoke alarm battery was dying and kept making a dull, depressing beep. Room service didn't bother us much; fresh towels and toilet paper were available on request. We also got two pillows each, which was nice. The neighborhood felt really shady. We had room 130 on the ground floor. The pool was closed for maintenance, though there was some kind of barbecue by it at night. It could get loud on some nights, and it seemed like people lived at this hotel. We had no trouble ourselves, but we'd heard the area wasn't great, and I wouldn't take public transport out there as a visitor.

There were roaches in my room, and it was dirty. I found used plastic utensils on the floor beside the beds and half smoked cigarettes on the headboards. The sink looked like someone had thrown up in it and it hadn't been cleaned well. The sheets seemed unchanged, with stains, holes, and a strange smell. I didn't ask to move or complain because some staff made me uncomfortable when I smiled and said hello, as if my presence alone was a bother. I decided it was better to buy cleaning products at Walgreens and clean the room myself. I've stayed in plenty of cheap hotel rooms without a problem elsewhere, but I guess you get what you pay for here. If you're visiting New Orleans as a tourist, spend a little more and stay closer to the French Quarter.

The staff were kind and tried to help, but the room was so dirty I had to clean it myself with bleach, Lysol, and air freshener before I felt okay staying there. The bathroom had visible mold, the walls were dirty, and the room smelled of smoke. I asked several times for new linens before they found a set without stains or cigarette burns. My vacation was good apart from the hotel. I wouldn’t give it a star, but had to choose one to post.

The price was the only thing going for this place. When I checked out today, I was wishing I’d never checked in. There was hair all over the room, it reeked of cigarettes, and the curtains had cigarette holes. The towels smelled dirty, so maybe it was just as well they didn’t leave us any rags. I didn’t even sleep under the sheets. There were also people injecting drugs with needles in the parking lot. Please beware.

The afternoon and evening staff member was really friendly, the bed was comfortable, and it was easy to reach the tourist spots. It was fairly quiet, and a basic continental breakfast was available each day. Still, for the price I expected at least the basics. The pool was closed, and housekeeping never cleaned our room during the week. They only brought towels, two for three guests. The linens were stained and had cigarette burns, and our non-smoking room smelled strongly of smoke, especially when the AC came on. The microwave was rusty, marked with burns inside, and didn’t work. The hair dryer didn’t work either, and its plug looked smashed.
