Red Roof Inn PLUS+ Poughkeepsie

They called less than 48 hours before my booking and said they were overbooked, while I was on my way there. Unbelievable. Reservations should have been checked as they came in instead of canceling at the last minute. Don’t book with them.

Should’ve read the reviews first. Music blared all night, staff did nothing about it, and the place clearly isn’t non-smoking. Avoid this hotel.

I usually avoid posting negative reviews, but this needs to be said. I travel for work and try hard to find somewhere safe and clean to sleep when I’m on the road. The place looked maintained when I arrived, and the staff were quick and welcoming. I left a few things in my room before heading out. When I came back that night, I turned on the lights and TV, then spotted a tick on the wall before I could shower. Afterward, I dried off, put my towel on the bed, and did my hair. When I returned, there was another bug crawling across the bed. Looking more closely, I found a whole family of cockroaches. I work in resale, and as shown in the pictures, I had to leave some things behind, including my pants that had been on the floor while I showered. We had to stay at the Red Roof in Poughkeepsie for VASSAR's Parent's weekend in late September 2024. Three nights cost $800, even though this is normally a reasonably priced hotel. It felt shabby and cheap, with dingy hallways and a social worker using an open office on our floor. There was also an incident involving someone with mental issues, and the police had to be called. We felt uncomfortable, and the stay was below par as well as overpriced. I complained to the company first, but they said they couldn’t compensate us. Do not stay here.
