Best Western Dutch Valley Inn

The pool looked clean and well cared for, but the water was cold. The pool bathroom could use attention too, since it looked old and dingy. Our room was pleasant enough, though cold air came through around the AC unit, which had pulled away from the wall. With temperatures below zero, we asked for another blanket and covered it up. The breakfast was satisfying, and the staff are always wonderful. Best Western is usually good value, and I was pleased with our stay.

We only stayed a few hours. We arrived Friday around 2:00 PM to get ready for a wedding, left at about 2:45, then came back near 10:00 PM, collected our bags, and went straight to the Hilton across the road. I’ve traveled plenty, but had never left a hotel the same night before this. The room floor sloped so much that in bed our feet would have been higher than our heads. There were wood blocks under the head of the bed to level it, which looked like a long-running problem being covered up instead of fixed. The lobby seemed dirty, old, and neglected, and the food service area didn’t look clean enough for us to feel comfortable eating there. We didn’t feel clean, safe, or comfortable. This place needs proper maintenance and honest attention, not quick patches and excuses.

The room wasn’t comfortable either. The bed was hard, and my side seemed broken or tilted. The hairdryer didn’t work, even after I reset both the GFCI outlet and the GFCI plug on the dryer. We were there for a wedding and expected the shuttle to run on a loop. The shuttle company had told the man at check-in to call or text if anyone needed a ride. The bus was there when we checked in, but by the time I got to the room and looked out the window, it had already left, just three minutes after we entered the building. We waited over an hour for it to return. I was very disappointed with both the hotel and shuttle staff. It was a total failure on their part. Update: The employee at the counter did have the phone number, and there was no sign on the check-in desk. Double-check your facts.

Clean place, friendly people, and a really good hot breakfast that’s free. There are also several stores and restaurants nearby. This is my second work trip to the area and I stayed here again. I’ll be back whenever I’m in town. Just an awesome place to stay!
