Super 8 Motel - New Stanton

The staff I dealt with were all friendly and helpful. It’s a clean, pet friendly budget hotel with a reasonable price for the area, and there’s plenty of room to walk a dog. The highway is close, so you can hear the traffic, though it wasn’t too bad. Getting on and off the highway is easy, and there are lots of nearby places to eat and get gas.

We were stuck with one of the last rooms in town, and the first night I got a bug bite after finding a dead cockroach on the floor. At 1:30 AM the next night, I woke up itching from several bites and found a live bed bug on me. My husband got up and found another live one on his side of the bed. We killed one and took it to the office to report what was happening. There were no other rooms available, so we wrapped everything in bags and had to sleep in our car, planning to get our things cleaned in the morning. The manager showed no sympathy or apology when we spoke the next day. He said he’d only remove the second night’s charge because we hadn’t reported a problem the first night, then removed the $73.97 first-night charge and billed us $93.98 for the second. No offer to pay the cleaning costs for our belongings either. It felt rude and like really bad business, with no concern for guests’ well-being.

My truck was in the shop for repairs, and as a long haul driver I needed somewhere to stay without a reservation. The woman at the desk was sweet, polite, and very professional. She sorted me out with a nice room, and I had no problems during my stay. That’s been my usual experience with Wyndham hotels. Thank you.

The staff were good and the hotel was generally okay. The bathroom fan didn’t work, though, and the tub looked pretty nasty. There was black mold around the caulking, and the inside was so worn that it needs resurfacing or replacing.
