The cabin was very clean and the price was good, but this was a really disappointing stay. We booked four nights for antiques week, rather late, and it was the only place available within an hour of Round Top. We thought it would be great because breakfast was included every morning. At arrival, we were given 10 eggs, 10 pieces of bacon, one can of pillsburry orange rolls, about half a pitcher of orange juice, a loaf of homemade bread that was so overcooked we couldn’t eat it, and one tablespoon of butter. With the bread inedible, that left the food for four people, and nearly everything except a couple of eggs was gone after the first morning. We assumed it would be restocked that night, but it wasn’t. We had to provide our own breakfast for the remaining mornings. The shower was about 2.5’ by 2.5’, with two shower heads spraying water everywhere. There was no way to shower without getting the bathroom wet. Outside, there were signs warning about snakes, but the grass you had to drive through was so tall you couldn’t see where to watch for them. Mowing around the cabin exit and parking area would have taken less than 10 minutes. We left a day early because we weren’t satisfied, though we never complained and even thanked the host and said we enjoyed ourselves, because we did despite the problems. About two hours after leaving, I realized I’d left my wedding ring and earrings. I texted Linda, who said she’d retrieve and mail them. Three weeks later they still hadn’t arrived, so I followed up. She said the cleaning lady had only found my fake eyelashes, which were right beside the jewelry. When my husband called because Linda wasn’t trying to find out what happened to the jewelry, she told him I’d never mentioned the wedding ring. I had, and sent her a screenshot of our original text where I mentioned it. She then said we’d left the cabin filthy. I was shocked. We washed the dishes after every meal. The trash can was full, but there were no instructions about where to dispose of trash. Apart from unmade beds and wet towels on the bathroom floor, nothing was left “filthy.” I guess she can afford the best cleaning service in Texas with whatever she or the cleaning service got from my wedding ring and diamond earrings. It’s so unfortunate this was the service we received. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND STAYING HERE!
